1860 Saloon’s Cajun and Creole Food

There is one mouth-watering menu for all three rooms at 1860 Saloon, Game Room & Hardshell Cafe.

Although there is a variety of food, Cajun and Creole is heavily represented in the offerings.  Starting with our appetizers, the Famous Crab Cakes are the most popular New Orleans-style item.  These are carefully prepared with fresh ingredients and a highlight in the annual Mardi Gras season’s “Taste of Soulard” event. The Cajun aioli dip gives the Crab Cakes a nice “kick”. For more from the sea, the shucked, fresh-to-order oysters are available raw or Rockefeller. If you want something crunchy to munch on, the Cajun Chips tossed in our blackening spice and served with the house-made dill dip is a go-to favorite. The Cajun and Creole meal specialties include Jambalaya, Seafood Gumbo and Red Beans & Rice. If you can’t decide, get the Cajun Sampler, as it’s a cup of each! The mouth-watering Jalapeño Cornbread is a perfect complement served with these.

We receive rave reviews on the Cajun Tequila Shrimp. The jumbo shrimp are sautéed in Aguila Tequila lemon butter caper sauce and then tossed in Cajun cream sauce. Po’ Boys, fried catfish sandwiches and nuggets, and spicy chicken wings and wraps are also big-sellers in the Louisiana-influenced menu. For traditional American fare, the Homemade Chicken Strips are the top seller for a reason.  They are perfectly hand dipped, breaded and fried. Customers are divided on which in-house prepared dressing is the better match: ranch or honey mustard.

The secret is out on our great pizzas!

The crust is supplied by fresh deliveries from Viviano’s, with toppings and a sauce combination that exceed pizza expectations.

Each of the three rooms has its own personality. 1860 Saloon has live music 365 days a year, seven nights a week and Saturday & Sunday afternoons. The Game Room is a great choice for special celebrations and events. Reservations for private parties Monday through Thursday can be requested by emailing us at info@1860saloon.com. The room has a full bar, wood-beamed ceilings, and large picture windows. Guests are entertained playing darts, shuffleboard, foosball and Golden Tee, as well as viewing sports on several TVs.

And the Hardshell Café has a fun New Orleans garden and Mardi Gras atmosphere for enjoying drinks and meals.  There is outdoor dining as well. All food can be ordered carry out and in party pack sizes (call 314-231-1860). Did you know you can bring our food into Busch Stadium to watch the Cardinals (unless you have the fancy food-included seats)? Our complimentary shuttle drives to all home games, as well as Blues hockey. There is free parking in the lot and along the streets, as we are located in the heart of the historic Soulard neighborhood.
